Let's learn how to stress nouns.

Earlier you learned how to divide words into syllables:

pieš-tu-kas (pieš-tu-ku, pieš-tu-kai, etc)
lan-gas (lan-gai, lan-gų, etc)
kam-ba-rys (kam-ba-rio, kam-ba-riui, etc)

In a Lithuanian noun, there are two syllables that a stress can jump on:

  • the stem syllable: pieš-tu-kas, lan-gas, kam-ba-rio;
  • the ending syllable: pieš-tu-ku, lan-gai, kam-ba-rys.
