Labas,

I am staying in Lithuania for about 3 to 4 months from December, does anybody know of any web sites to help me find an apartment to rent on a long term basis, preferably in Marilamploe or Kaunas? If any one knows anybody who wants to rent thier flat...... let me know! :)

Richard

I suggest posting a advertisement in skelbiu.lt under Nekilnojamasis turtas (immovable property), butai (apartments). Scroll down to select a city (Mano miestas - 'My city'). Make a post by clicking on skelbti (to announce).

Write something like:

Jaunas anglas norėtų išsinuomoti butą keturiems mėnesiams nuo gruodžio Marijampolėje/Kaune.
A young Englishman would like to rent a flat for four months starting from December in Marijampolė/in Kaunas.

Under 'Veiksmas' (action) choose 'ieškau' (I seek).
Write your e-mail and telephone in 'El. paštas' and 'Telefonas'. And of course, select the city. And don't forget to type the security code ('Saugos kodas').

I found this website in google. It was the first result, so I'm not sure if it's the best, but it probably is :). I hope that helps!

Labas :D

A quick update....

I have finaly made it to Lithuania and am staying in Marijampolė. On arrival my friends took me to Acropolis in Vilnius which was great! i enjoyed watching a game of ice hockey and saw Lithuania win a basketball match on the big screen TV!

So far i am enjoying the food, cepelinai is wonderfull and potato pancakes with sour cream and smoked salmon are to die for!

Going to explore Kaunas this week and Palanga next week. I will be here for about 6 months so i intend to see everything and hope that my language will improve!

Everybody here has made me feel very welcome and i cant wait to spend a traditional christmas eve with my girlfriends family.... the only thing missing is the snow!!!
