Please help. Does anyone know the three forms of this verb? nesikelti

Here is the sentence it was used in: "Jei žmogus už ko nors užkliūtų ir pargriūtų, argi norėtų gulėti paslikas ir nesikelti?"

I was trying to dissect the sentence and conjugate all the verbs in it.

Just so you know I am not lazy, none of the programs or websites I use had that information (Anglonas, Dabartinės, http://www.progress.lt/cgi-bin/intraled.exe, http://www.anglu-lietuviu.com/)

Thanks.

Hi,

You have to look the the basic form, which is "infinitive - keltis, III person present tense - keliasi, III person past tense - kėlėsi"

keltis - reflexive verb form from kelti, kelia, kėlė ;

nesikelti - [ne] is negative prefix;
[si] is reflexive particle;
kelti - verb
so as you see you have 3 in 1 :D

O.K.

Singular present tense:

I- aš nesikeliu
You- tu nesikeli
He/she/it - jis/ji nesikelia

Plural present tense:

We- mes nesikeliame
You - jūs nesikeliate
They - jie/jos nesikelia

Singular past tense:

Aš nesikėliau
Tu nesikėlei
Jis/ji nesikėlė

Plural past tense:

Mes nesikėlėme
Jūs nesikėlėte
Jie/jos nesikėlė

Singular past frequentative tense:

Aš nesikeldavau
Tu nesikeldavai
Jis/ji nesikeldavo

Plural past frequentative tense:

Mes nesikeldavome;
Jūs nesikeldavote;
Jie/jos nesikeldavo;

Singular future tense:

Aš nesikelsiu;
Tu nesikelsi;
Jis/ji nesikels;

Plural future tense:

Mes nesikelsime;
Jūs nesikelsite;
Jie/jos nesikels.

It is o.k? ;)

If you put any prefix to a reflexive veb then the reflexive particle si must be moved to the front of the verb after the particles.

keltis
nesikelti
atsikelti
neatsikelti

Oops! :oops: :oops: I should have remembered the "thingy" about the reflexive verbs. Thanks Ms. Palomita for again, as usual, the thorough reply helping me learn to conjugate the verb. (Though I haven't yet tackled that about the frequentative tenses---I do remember seeing it in my Po Truputi book :( ) And Ascii, thanks for reminding me of that simple grammar rule on prefixes to reflexive verbs I forgot about. :oops:

Thanks people!
