This section of DEBESĖLIS is going to help you build a vocabulary of verbs. We have collected over 200 most common Lithuanian verbs and are listing them alphabetically. Clicking on each letter, you will find verbs with English translations, example sentences and more.

At the bottom of every verb there is a list of prefixes used with this verb. You do not need to memorize all the list, only the underlined prefixes (since these are more common). The rest is just for you to better understand the system of Lithuanian prefixes.

to sing

Tu labai gražiai dainuoji, Vytautai. You sing very nice, Vytautas.
Tau dainavo tik trys dainininkai? Only three singers were singing to you?
Visada tau dainuosiu. I will always sing to you.

apdainuoti - to sing about smth, honour smth
atidainuoti - to sing something and be done with it
dainuoti - to be capable of singing smth; to complete to sing smth
nudainuoti - to sing smth badly
padainuoti - to sing for a little while
pardainuoti - to come home while singing
perdainuoti - to resing
pradainuoti - to miss/fail/not notice something while singing
sudainuoti - to perform a song
dainuoti - to beging singing
atsidainuoti - to get bored/sick of singing
įsidainuoti - to start feeling oneself in a song
nusidainuoti - to fail singing

to participate in; to take part in; to attend

Ar jūs dalyvausite mūsų pietuose? Will you take part in our dinner?

atidalyvauti - to have enough of participating
padalyvauti - to participate in something a little
sudalyvauti - to complete the participation in something
atsidalyvauti - to have enough of attending
įsidalyvauti - to gain momentum in attending
nusidalyvauti - to do attending badly
pasidalyvauti - to attend something for own pleasure
persidalyvauti - to cause "harm" to oneself by attending
prisidalyvauti - to get in trouble by attending
